Frequently asked questions

What is net margin in dropshipping?

Net margin is the percentage of each sale that becomes real profit after deducting product cost, shipping, platform fees and advertising. A margin above 20% is generally considered healthy in dropshipping.

How do I calculate the platform fee?

Each marketplace charges a different percentage: Amazon charges between 8% and 15% depending on the category, eBay around 12%, and Shopify charges between 0.5% and 2% depending on the plan. Enter the total percentage the platform deducts from each sale.

Should I include taxes in the prices?

It depends on your setup. If you sell to end consumers and collect sales tax, enter the price WITHOUT tax so the simulator reflects your real pre-tax profit.

Why is my profit showing as negative?

A negative result means total costs (product + shipping + platform fee + ad spend) exceed your selling price. You need to raise the price, find a cheaper supplier, or cut advertising costs.
