Frequently asked questions

Is a freelance contract legally valid in Spain?

Yes. Service agreements are governed by the Spanish Civil Code (Arts. 1544 et seq.) and the Self-Employment Statute (Ley 20/2007 LETA). A private written document is fully binding between the signing parties.

Do I need to be registered as autónomo?

To provide services habitually and for pay in Spain you must be registered as autónomo with Social Security and AEAT. The contract is also valid for limited companies — just enter the CIF.

Who owns the intellectual property of the delivered work?

If you enable the IP clause, exploitation rights are assigned to the client once full payment is received. You can customise the scope further in the downloaded Word document.

Can I include a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)?

Yes. The confidentiality clause obliges both parties not to disclose sensitive information during and after the contractual relationship. The duration is configurable.

Can I edit the document after downloading?

Yes. The .docx is fully editable in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs. For large projects, we recommend having a legal professional review it.
